October Illustration Exhibits in NYC

Where the Wild Things Are just hit theaters, but I am really looking forward to seeing Where the Wild Things Are: Original Drawings by Maurice Sendak over at the Morgan Library. This exhibit is only until November 1st. And if you are really looking for more Sendak illustrations to gaze at stop by Sendak in Soho. (Admission is free on Fridays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m) Top: Preliminary drawing of dust jacket for Where the Wild Things Are. Pen and ink, watercolor. © Maurice Sendak, 1963. All rights reserved.

Also coming up is my FAVORITE show to go to each year the 2009 Original Art: The Fine Art of Children's Book Illustration
October 22 - November 25, 2009 (its free)
I love to look at each original (so different up close rather than in a bound book) and flip through the children's books, which they put out for browsing...

They are even having a children's book illustration workshop that I think I need to attend!

Both of these exhibits are great for aspiring artists of all ages.
