Objectified the Film

If you liked Helvetica (as I definitely did-see here) you are sure to like this new film Objectified by Gary Hustwit. Looking forward to seeing it when it comes to New York City.

Window Wednesday: A is for Accessory

Such an Accessorized week! I noticed Sony's campaign to target women--technology meets fashion, the typography accessory alphabet at Henri Bendel and flying accessories at Bergdorf Goodman. Scroll all the way to the end for great graphics from Sak's Want It! campaign.

Feel Good Friday

I recently found out about the site Wall Blank. They have new limited edition art everyday, which is available for one week or until it is sold out. On Friday all proceeds go to a non-profit. Talk about affordable art! I know some of your readers out there are talented artists. Wall Art is willing to take a look at pretty much any kind of art that can be hung on a wall.Empty Park by Joel Childs

Window Wednesdays: Ikea Studio Apartment Billboard

An oldie, but a goodie. During the summer of 2001 Ikea put up a high and large 3-D window display (no store in NYC, take the high road!) in Times Square. Using a billboard and some furniture, they were about to create a great Absolute Ad. All summer I loved looking up and seeing their creative display.

Interior Design: Icovia Room Planner

Ummmm so obsessed with this Bassett Room Planner site a co-worker sent me. Many of my friends are moving and new apartments means new design! This is such a huge help. Move furniture around print out, save, and play. If you want something more tangible & magnetic The Board may be for you.

Advice from Lilla Rogers

Advice about being an artist in a recession from Lilla Rogers Studio.

I’ve been in business through three recessions and have done fine.

My advice for artists and independent business persons:

Stay positive
Do your best work
Have fun with it
Stay frugal
Find opportunities
This won’t last forever
Remember why you’re doing this work
Get emotional support from others
Give emotional support to others
Don’t take it personally
Face the facts of your finances
Promote, promote, promote
Work harder and longer hours
Be inventive and creative
Find new venues
Make your artwork or product so incredible people cannot NOT buy it
Rise to the challenge!
Rather than get discouraged, see it as a challenge.
What do you have to offer out there that is needed?
Be the very, very best you can be.
Meditate and get enough rest.
The best artwork is always in demand.
Know when it’s not going to work and when to get out
There are always opportunities out there in the world.
As my mother used to say, “It’s a BIG world out there, honey.”

Good luck to all!
